I am having an odd issue with the front USB ports on a 2021 Crosstreck Limited that's only 3 weeks old. When using either of the front USB ports to charge and connect to the heas unit for Android Auto, sometimes the ports cycle both charging amd connection on and off for no apparent reason, and this cycling won't stop even after I turn the car off and back on again, it only resolves after the car has been sitting for a bit. Anyone else ever run in to this.

I have found that these are very finicky for some reason (2018 outback here). I haven't noticed whether the charging goes on and off, but the android auto can be flaky, very flaky. I eliminated 99% of the trouble by using high quality USB cables from JS Aux that I got on Amazon. I never believed people when they told me cables were my problem, but now I've got religion.

Tech has always been Subaru's Achilles' heel.

I am having this same issue with my 2021 Crosstrek Sport. It has happened twice. I usually two things plugged into the port. I have tried Apple devices, Apple cables, Google devices, Google cables, Anker cables, my wireless charger/phone holder and nothing helps it. The first time it just eventually went back to normal with the same cable plugged in. Now it has started up again out of nowhere without changing any cables or devices. This second instance is about 6 months from the 1st. I have also noticed that no matter what brand of charging cable I use, the cable gets fried and doesn't work after just a few months and I have to buy a new one. Both devices I have plugged in right now are charging on and off repeatedly.

YES exactly. waiting stops it. I believe it to be related to the head unit software. The head unit also turns the radio or streaming on and off when it feels like it. I tried several suggestions that I one can try. 1. to use the latest beta from android auto as Samsung did not feel that the Android Auto was compatible at that time at least and 2. Go into developer option for and android and turn on usb debugging. I think this allows the phone to stream because the head unit was treated my streaming as a phone call. It was counting the seconds as if I was in a phone conversation.

Same exact issue. waiting with the vehicle off usually cures it. I also for other reasons, use an android auto beta, latest, and turn on usb debugging in the developer's option section of the Samsung S-22. This last was suggested by Samsung because the head unit was treating my streaming as a phone call, counting seconds! No reboots help. I think its in the head unit software. We know that the head unit has bugs; like turning off and on when you least expect it.
