I'm lucky enough to have purchased the XV 2.0i 6-speed manual back in March here in Australia and so far pretty happy with it.
However, ever since I have had it I have noticed a constant whine when doing about 100km/hr. It's noticeable and constant at that speed and seems to decrease as you slow down or speed up from 100. The whine doesn't change pitch with the accelerator, just changes pitch when speed increases/decreases.
I don't notice the whine at other speeds and occurs in either 5th or 6th gear.
I have had Subaru check it out twice and the first time said it wasn't a problem, then a manager experienced it a second time and said that 'some cars do this and some don't'. Obviously I want one that doesn't.
Anyone else had experience with this? I've read some reviews that mention similar a similar whine. I drive on the highway to work everyday (100km round trip) and it is the only annoying thing about it - the constant whine is very noticeable. I also have several rattles, but happy for them to be fixed at the next service.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated...
