That Annoying Engine Shut-off

Unfortunately the AS/S works soo inconsistently it's a distraction and a danger. Saving 2 gallons a year isn't worth the risk/stress considering I already drive a very efficient car with great MPGs. Let the Escalade owners use AS/s, they consume twice the fuel I do. I recently bought a 2nd car without AS/S and it's wonderful, my engine never turns off unless I turn it off.

Turned mine off (seat belt chime). But no, I dont expect Subaru to reverse what the gov mandates them to do.

Gov't doesn't mandate AS/S. My friend ordered a Ford Raptor and was able to specify AS/S Delete, I saw it myself. My 23 WRX Manual also doesn't have AS/S. Too bad remote starts eliminate any potential fuel savings from the AS/S. TBH I do use as/s if I'm in a drive thru, there's no distraction or danger creeping forward in a drive thru. I use the fuel saved to power my Lawnmower.

Yesterday after I pulled into my garage, I reached for the shifter to place into park and shut the motor off. The AS/S turned off the motor and restarted the motor just in time for me to turn it off again. I hate it when I forget to disable the AS/S the moment I start the car. I'm getting better but it doesn't help that I just bought another Subaru that doesn't have AS/S and doesn't need the additional steps.

For me, it wouldn't be a cost/benefit analysis, it would be a small price to pay to remove the annoyance of the engine shutting off when I'm about to merge into traffic...
Which requires a lot more throttle (gas needed) to make up for the delay and reduced distance between you and the car you just pulled in front of. Fortunately most advances improve safety, not decrease it.
