No key fob on MT Crosstreks. No Faraday pouch needed. (y)
I was actually shocked/bummed when I picked up my new car and the saleslady gave me the keys. I was like "huh? where's the keyfob?". I wanted a fob instead of a key only because they carry easier in your pants pockes. Where I worked you couldn't have keys dangling out on your pants and having a big car key jabbing me in my trousers over the years had actually worn out a bunch of jean pockets!

HOWEVER - after learning that the MT with its key benefited from the lack of horrible autostop BS I was ok with it! I then was bummed though that the 4 digit unlock trunk button push thing wasn't part of the deal with the MT either.

Key or not I'd rather have an MT car period. I don't like all that eyesight stuff either....I prefer having a car that you drive yourself without so many addon (unneeded by me) electrogizmos on the CVT Subes. Not to mention that the MT was something like $1200 cheaper. I was willing to pay EXTRA to get an MT, and certainly not willing to pay extra for a CVT.

Maybe in your part of the world. I’m happy to have a Faraday pouch for mine.
I just have a conventional key with a remote lock/unlock. A Faraday pouch would serve no purpose.

Well for me guys, I'm an MT enthusiast and have had several MT's I've owned. My previous Suby was a 2009 2.5l Legacy Spec Ed which I had to have as an Auto (no CVT back then) because I was working and doing a lot of city driving. Yep, the HP was great, but I don't miss it now that I'm retired. I went back to the MT in my '23 Premium which I could only get in the 2.0l, because I love driving stick. It really puts the fun back into driving! I don't need all that BS like...Eyesight or all the other crap that is offered "only" with the CVT, although I admit that the backup camera is nice. I've been driving almost 60 years in the US and other countries in all types of weather. Basic driving skills are all any enthusiast needs. Plus it keeps you awake, alert and active. What scares me most is "hands-free-driving" and of course, autonomous driving trucks !!!! It's a pleasure to drive stick, yeah, I understand that the MPG is not as good as the CVT and the HP isn't a good as the 2.5l, but hey...I'll give up these for the fun of driving stick. Also the Crosstrek is a nice ride!!

All hope is not lost for MT enthusiasts:giggle:

Just stumbled on these articles below. Evidently some manufacturers of electric cars are adding fake stickshifts and engine noises to make us think we're driving a MT!!

Personally I think that is a bit try-hard, and I am a big MT enthusiast.

A fake manual tranny with fake vroom-vroom noises? Meh. That would remind me too much of those old video games. While I'm a die-hard MT guy, when it comes time to go electric, I'm ready to give up my MT.

I got a laugh out of it. Kind of like seeing a kid "drive" their mom's shopping cart in the supermarket that is decked out with a fake steering wheel.

Would I pay extra for that on an electric? No. But if it came with it and was fun to pretend that I was driving a MT I'd enjoy it.

This actually reminds me of Driver's Ed back in high school where we had driving simulator stations in a trailer where a movie played on a big screen in front of us. I gravitated towards the ones with the fake stickshifts. And everytime that stupid kid ran out behind the parked car to get his ball I sped up and tried to hit him. The driver's ed teacher was not amused though.
