My wife has a 2020 Forrester with all LED lights, I just bought a 2021 Crosstrek Limited that has all Halogen terrible lights, I would have thought that the 2021 would have had LED lights so I'm guessing that they go by the Model and not the year. Please help.

Thank you

Do you mean cargo, signal and brake lights?

I have changed everything from Halogen to LED's. Low Beam, High Beam, all interior lights and the 2 lights above the license plate and I'm about to do the reverse lights and that's it. So my original question might not have been clear should a 2021 have been LED's ? but we know how they play with trim levels. The car is used and I had a crazy thought that the previous owner changed the 2 main lights to Halogen.

Are you sure its a Limited and not a Premium? In the USA at least, the Limited & Hybrid models came with LED headlight assemblies and the Base, Premium and Sport (2021+) had Halogen headlight assemblies.

It is extremely unlikely the previous owner swapped the headlight assemblies out for from LED to Halogen, since that would be quite a bit more difficult to accomplish. The light assemblies themselves are the same fitment wise, but the wiring/plugs are completely different. There are people who have converted from Halogen to LED on this forum and others, but it isn't a direct plug and play swap without modifying the harness or buying a premade adapter.

I am not sure why Subaru is still selling cars with Halogen headlight assemblies, year doesn't seem to have anything to do with it, only the trim level, for the Crosstrek and Impreza at least.

As for the other lights not being LED, interior, license plate, parking/turn, there are a lot of manufactures (including Subaru) out there that still use a halogen bulb for those.

I think you are missing the point of what I posted.

I was answering the trim level part of your second post, I realize you didn't swap headlight assemblies, first off I doubt you want to undertake that swap anyways and you also said you changed the low and high beams to LED, so common sense would say you just swapped out the bulbs (I did the same with my low beams). The factory Subaru LED headlight assemblies use an LED projector for the low/high beam.

You should be able to confirm the trim level of the car based off of the options on the car (radio, seats, etc...) and possibly the VIN? But I can't help you much with that, since that is out my knowledge at the moment.

So I am not really sure what you were getting at with this thread, were you trying to confirm if a previous owner modified your car or say you swapped over to LEDs or just curious as to why Subaru stuck with older bulb technology on the Crosstrek? I am happy to help anyway I can, I just don't want to waste your time or anyone else's time asking/answering the wrong things.
