Just had my 2018 over at Rack N Road to have a 2" hitch installed. After having it for 2 1/2 hours, they called to tell me they couldn't get it to fit. In 2018 Subaru went to an Impreza frame so I suspect that's what happened.

Someone should have checked before ordering the damn thing. Any one else have any trouble? The hitch is made by Curt.

Welcome to SXF.

Actually, the XV has always been on an Impreza frame. The problem is the only hitches available for the 17-18' Impreza and, by default, the 18' XV seem to be 1.25", class 1 hitches. I agree, someone should have checked first. That and taking them that long should really be a sign.... we'll, unless you dropped your XV for later pickup.

Your only option right now is either hope the 1.25" 17' (global platform) Impreza hitch fits the 18' XV or buy the Subaru hitch. I can even find an aftermarket 2" hitch for the Impreza but suspect manufactures will come up with an XV 2" over the next year.

My Dealer install this Curt 2" hitch before I picked up my Crosstrek. They said it was worth 360 plus another 65 for the wiring. I got them to include it in the sale price.

What model number is this Curt? Picture not high res enough to see the sticker.

Is it a Curt 13135

I have used the 1-1/4" Draw-Tite products (from the eTrailer.com site) on previous cars for my bicycle rack. I asked their customer service rep if the hitch receiver for the '17 Crosstrek would work on the '18. He said NO and that they don't yet have a Draw-Tite product that fits the '18. ETrailer's website also states that the Curt part number 13135 has NOT been confirmed to fit the '18......????

I waited 2 hours at U-Haul while they tried to figure out why their hitch didn't fit. Finally cancelled the install and called the dealer. But I do not want to pay $900 for the Subaru hitch. The U-Haul instruction manual provided online confirms they use Draw-Tight, and as someone noted above, Draw-Tight thinks the 2018 Crosstrek is the same size as the Impreza. Very disappointing. Wonder how long we have to wait for manufacturers to figure all this out.

To be more specific Subaru went to a standard platform they will be using for all Models (not sure about the Ascent though). They released the Impreza with it first. It now has proliferated to the Crosstrek with the 2018 Model Year. Don't assume anything from previous years is gonna fit. The car is longer and wider from what I understand.

I'll have the Curt 13382 installed at Trick Trucks next week. I'm beginning to think the installer at U-haul tried to install last year's Draw-Tight, pointing to the manufacture date of 07/17 as indication that my 2018 XV is really a 2017. (!) Customer service at Draw-Tight confirmed that the product number 76209 is correct for my car - and this is the number on the U-haul invoice.

Look up eTrailer and they have the correct info. There are two, 2” models they sell for the 2018 Crosstrek. The Curt that people have listed, c13382, and also the Draw-Tite 76209. I decided on the Draw-Tite because it did not require reaming out the bolt holes in the frame. I ordered the hitch from eTrailer when I bought the car 4 weeks ago, and the hitch was on national back order. It took three weeks to arrive, but it was worthwhile.

I say all of that to say, I’m going to be removing that hitch for this one. It’s a local company in Atlanta, and the hitch looks to have all of the benefits of the OEM hitch, but in a 2” receiver.
