I too have been a fan of K&N ENGINE air filters, however, the oil used on these air filters can have an adverse affect on the MAF , mass air flow sensor of the car causing all sorts of problems Stick with OEM air filters especially while under warranty

So what weight or brand oil is used on the filters? Can I use a lighter synthetic, or do you need a heavier dino blend for those summer months? What does the owners manual say?

Not sure I want an oily air filter for the cabin, sounds like more gunk to clean.

K & N has their own engine air filter oil, to make more money of course. Been there, done that, now I just use an OEM engine air filter. Remove it to shake out the dirt then reuse or replace it as I think is necessary.
I like Bosch HEPA cabin air filters. Still doesn't remove odors though.

Today, the dealership wanted $50 to change a vaguely dusty cabin air filter, on a car I've had just over 6 months, and less than 5000 miles.

The part that irks me the most about this is that, assuming the filter they show you is actually yours, they have to put the car back together anyway regardless whether they put in a new one or reinstall the old one, and a filter is only like $25 or so. So they are charging you half again to do something they already have to do.

i find bosch filter not suitable for tropical weather, it gets smelly after short period of time. I have repeated a few time with subaru and toyota, and ends with the same problem. the subaru cabin filter they give here is kind of low quality, so now I change to use Denso green filter, it cleans small particle well and not getting smelly.
I believe fram ultra is also good but since my car Is RHD model, still not confident on the right parts number for the cabin air filter.

depend on how fast you accumulate mileage, for me i passed my 36000 miles without the need to change any of those items 🤣🤣🤣. at the end i change myself is just because of performance upgrade features compared than stock 👍

I bought a K&N engine and cabin air filters for my 2013 Crosstrek. Been using them in my vehicles and motorcycle since the 1970's. They work great last forever!! Buy once, clean, re-set, cheap and they last forever.

Maintenance: The warranty does not cover routine maintenance, such as oil changes and tire rotations.
The concencious it's very easily accessible and inexpensive.

Capume 4 layer cabin filter - Hepa and Activated Carbon.....Amazon $14.... started using them a couple of years ago and even here in the Florida heat and humidity odor removal has been excellent - seems like a really good quality for the price. I'm set.

Mostly used for countries with heavy established usage of gazoil [diesel] emission. Particle emission counts inner cities but the diesel was trimmed down in USLD. The diesel would darken the buildings in lime stone black. Long story.

David must not drive in the same kind of environments! Sometimes mine will go most of the year without being very dirty but depending on wind, dust and debris blowing around and other factors sometimes it needs replaced at 6 months or so. But I would never trust or pay the dealer to do it when I can buy the filter for 9 to $14 and it literally takes like 5 minutes or less to put it in.

What is the part number for the Capume 4 layer cabin filter? I couldn't find the part number on the Amazon Web site for a 2024 Crosstrek Wildnerness.
