Yes on/off on the 11" screen. Half the time I don't remember to turn it off, and find it annoying. We live in the country and there are only stop signs and not lights. As a mechanic, I dislike the extra wear and tear the auto stop feature places on the engine and starter. Electric - no problem. I'm not worried about the fuel consumption; there is no real savings the way we use our cars here in the mountains.

 

Reality? Auto Stop/Start offers infitestitimally, small benefits and numerous pitfalls ... namely battery and starting/charging system compromises.

Cranky is a very good initial mindset. That mindset will become better entrenched once you get into the thick of the present-day, "green" cultism. They even developed a disctinct battery technology (EFB) to address the demands of inconsequential Auto Stop/Start demands. And EFB Q85 batteries are like sub-12V akaline batteries ... shyte.

Happy to hear that the Auto Stop Eliminator works just fine with the 2024 Crosstrek. Swap out your OEM battery for an AGM battery and use a smart battery charger (CTek/Noco) on a bi-weekly basis to compensate for the "castration" of the vehicle's starting/ charging systems.

 

Total agreement here. Really I thought it was going to be arduous to have this switch flipped from "ON" upon start to "OFF" upon start. (Actually whatever state you left it in is how it starts up)This small harness totally addresses the aggravation while leaving the functionality for people who like auto start/stop. Kudos to TRL and others who came up with this supper easy add. And agree things have gotten unnecessarily complicated.

I got my eliminator for around $35 on Amazon. No instructions but there is a video. Very easy. It just changes the default to off but the button still works if you want it. My understanding is that the stop/start models come with a HD starter, a 150 amp alt & better batt. I've had starters & alternators last 250K & 135K w/ no problems. These should be truly lifetime components. I replaced the batt on my '13 with a 24F which had a lot more power. Probably do the same here on my '23.

I picked up my Auto Stop Eliminator two months ago but I'm so chicken chit to install it! I don't want to ruin anything. I have the instructions and the company was kind enough to give me even more photos of what I needed to do. I think my main hang up is prying the bezel from headliner. Again, I don't want to ruin anything. I loathe having to turn the thing off and really need to find the coconuts to attempt the installation.

 

Assemble your tools and go slow. You will be surprised at how easy it is. Better to take the time and proceed cautiously, you will be so pleased when you are done. Things really do pop off safely, after all it was designed to come apart. Go for it! Then share how it went.

Now I feel like a putz because I've had this thing for three months, just sitting in the bag waiting on me. It really was super easy to install. Like, beyond easy. I didn't even ruin anything! The hardest part was the zip ties at the end. HAHA

Of course, the device offered on Amazon for the 2018-2023 Crosstrek is different from the one you installed. If this device from Amazon also fits the 2024 or is also offered for the 2024 in a correspondingly modified form, I would prefer this device. First because it's a lot cheaper and second because it's very easy to install but works just as well as the $99 TRL device.

$99 was the cost when i bought mine (no tax + free shipping). there were no cheaper options. knowing what i know now i would have paid $300 easily

 

Out of curiosity, I watched the video on the TLR website. The installation is not complicated but in my opinion the installation of the Amazon device is even easier. Therefore, I repeat that personally, up to and including model year 2023, I would prefer Amazon's device - cheaper and even easier to install, but just as well working.

 

does anyone have a video of how to take down a 2024 eyesight 3 cam cover to get this auto stop eliminator installed.

finally installed mine from amazon, best 30 dollar purchase. initially steuggle with no manual and not working, and after a while just realize why the demo said to take 4th fuse, it is because the rating is same 10 amps and it is powered only when the ignition is on. If the device is connected to direct battery power, the device wont work.

Thanks for this. I don't understand the other posts about why the fuse slot makes a difference. Clearly, you don't want to use an always-on slot but beyond that?
