Starting my 2015 Cross Trek using the key inside the key fob. - Resolved

I'm trying to start my car using the key rather than the fob. When I do, I get a message on the screen to step on the brake and touch the key to the ignition. I stepped on the brake and touched the key to the engine start button, the only ignition I could find. Nothing happened. Any one out there know the answer?
