Dealership says they have to lift the engine or something, can you replace the spark plugs yourself by just removing air cleaner and battery for access ?

If the OEM part # is NGK DILKAR7Q8, NGK DILKAR7B8 should work.

I've done it 2x now on the family's MY18. It's doable without even removing the battery. It got tight the second time around as the motor mounts have collapsed some(hence why I'm replacing them), You'll need to remove the intake pipe/hose on the passenger side and some brackets on the driver's. It is mildly snug in there, so take your time and relax for a bit. The special tools you'll need:
1) 14mm thin walled spark plug socket. I used BMW's version made by Hazet (pt# 83 30 0 495 560, hazet # 4766-2)
2) 3 inch 3/8 wobble extension. I used Wright's version pt# 3410
3) 3/8 drive thin rachet. I use craftsman and a Mac versions for this app.
Go easy on the clips for the ignition coils as the harness is not robust.
