Excerpt from the manual:

Initialize the power window using the
following procedure to reactivate these
functions.
1. Close the driver’s door.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the “ON”
position.
3. Open the driver’s side window halfway
by pushing down the power window
switch.
4. Pull up the power window switch and
close the window completely. Continue
pulling up the switch for approximately 1
second after the window is closed completely.
5. Open the driver’s side window completely
by fully pushing down the power
windows switch.

my driver's side rear window was smashed and when I got it replaced, the button wasn't working right. The guy who installed got it to go up, then he put it down to see if the window worked. It went down, then didn't go back up. And then he played around some more with it and it went up. Being winter, I don't want to put that window down and it not go up, anyone have experience with this reset on a non automatic up/down window?

Thanks for this thread!! I got my Forester back from the body shop this week, and the auto up/down wasn't working. I thought they broke something inside the door, and was pretty annoyed. Glad it was an easy fix, but unhappy the body shop didn't know to do this.

Fantastic thread! I had my battery disconnected while getting my LED lights connected. I am happy to learn how to get them acting right again.

 

Might not be the same, but I had both switches go out for my passenger side window of my outback. I did the first rest method, the drivers side switch unlocked the passenger side switch and vise versa, so it might work on all except possibly the drivers side window.

Very cool, worked on my WRX. Also, resetting the auto up/down on the passenger window made the switch on the driver’s door for that window functional again. Thanks.
