What have you found that works well to clean and protect the exterior black plastic trim pieces (wheel wells, front and rear bumper covers)? I don't want something that leaves it looking glossy or shiny but does make it appear more black than a dull grey.

There's a product my local detailer uses that works very well: FEYNLAB PLASTIC BLACK | The Ultimate Coating to Restore Black Trim. The trim stays nice and black, and for long time.
I usually go with 303 Aerospace Protectant but I have been loving the heck out of Chemical Guys VRP.
I'm using up about a quart and a half of years old Armorall on my tires, black painted rims and plastic trim around the bottoms. The dull, flat look is to my liking. My brother bought it years ago and never used it so I'm using it where needed without spending money. Treatment lasts about a few weeks then fades.
I've been using FW1 Wash and Wax on the entire exterior of my vehicles, including all black plastic trim, since 2010. No white residue ever, gives the black plastic trim a deep black, low-lustre sheen and lasts through 3-4 car washes. Dead easy to use and affordable.

many waxes/ polishes leave a white residue that is hard to remove.
Some ceramic coatings state to not use on plastic trim.

But I was thinking one of the ceramic coatings should work. Something like the spray on Turtle Wax. Would probably have to re apply every six months or so.

May even help the headlights from clouding.
