I normally use the Tokyo Roki 15208AA160, in my Outback & now my new Crosstrek, which is a very nice robustly made filter. I have cut one open. Since they became difficult to find I switch to Amsoil filters - EA15K13 - the Amsoil filters are built like little tanks - I was impressed. They are made in the US - but I am unsure of the manufacture. I might cut one open to see the internals. To stir the pot a little more.... I only use Redline 0W-20 in my cars as it's an ester based oil with high levels of moly and zinc.

Amsoil filters are double what they should cost. But they are 99% at 20 microns. Subaru's filters are at least 30 microns at 99%

I purchased a case of 12 filters, with my "Amsoil Discount" it came out to ~$15 a filter. That's close to what I see the Tokyo Roki filters going for on ebay - which then you have take a chance on them not being counterfeit.

Just had oil/filter changed on my 2023 Limited. Out goes my Tokyo Roki....

New BLUE Subaru filter # SOA6351520812 was stamped on the top.

Now I have to find the alternate Tokyo Roki for this new BLUE filter for the Limited 2.5

And to think I tossed what was left of a case of Tokyo Roki filters I used for my 2013 Outback in the trash.

I think they may have given you the shorter, wrong filter? I believe the new part number for the Crosstrek is SOA6351520815. (Note the 12 vs 15 at the end).

Damn didn't catch that one.....interesting.

Wonder what reaction from the service department would be if I said...."guys, what's with this filter? It should say '15' as opposed to '12'.."

There is no excuse for a Subaru dealership making this mistake. Just curious, what filter # does your receipt indicate?
Since they installed a smaller filter, your engine may be overfilled with oil. You might want to check the oil dipstick.

And these are correct for the 2.5 in a 2023 Limited?
As far as I know, all subaru's have used the same filter for like 25 years. I am seriously scratching my head over this. If the threads are right and the gasket dimensions are right it will work. Correct me if I am wrong.

The 3.6 uses a different filter FYI.

It's nowhere near 25 years. Subaru switched to the 15208AA160 (factory)/15208AA15A (dealer) oil filters when the 4 cylinder engines transitioned from the EJ to FB engines around model year 2011. (Crosstreks have always had FB engines). The EJ's used the shorter 15208AA100 (factory)/15208AA12A(dealer) engine oil filters.
