Its more of a physical issue than than a contact issue. The stem is wobbly. Like its out of joint.

 

Any fix on this? Mine randomly started doing the same thing. It’s all wobbly.

 

Just guessing (because this is the internet...) but there is no OEM repair for this. It seems that it's the kind of problem that would require removal and some disassembly of the head unit and then the use of and soldering in some electronic parts (and those are available from many sources). Sorry if this wasn't helpful.

 

When in doubt of a mechanical (or, really, any) problem, the hammer is your friend! And if that doesn't fix it, try a 5lb metal mallet.
No, they might not fix the problem but they'll definitely scare the hell out of your Crosstrek from causing any future problems.
This is all scientifically-backed fact...

 

I'm just afraid of really laying into it with a hammer, as i don't want to make it totally unusable. But boy am i tempted!!

 

Has anyone managed to source a new potentiometer? I fatfingered the one in my wife's 2019 limited and while I was able to solder the cracked PCB back together, the button function in the potentiometer thinks it is a full time circuit now and continues to reset the system every three seconds. I can fix it easily enough, but not without parts.

 

I have the same problem on mine! It reboots every 30 seconds, any fix with this??

 

That is so frustrating. I’m having the same issue as well now. 2018 sport hatch. I haven’t touched my volume knob in a day or two, not have seen anything bump into it with excessive force, & I too have the same problem. A defect with this generation model maybe?

 

My 2018 Crosstrek has the same issue exactly. This appears to be common. I'm mad.

 

Just experienced this on my ‘19 crosstrek. Going to have dealership replace head unit as I have extended warranty. Let you know how that plays out

I just bought a used 2019 crosstrek only to discover the same issue after driving off the dealer lot. Also looking for a solution.

 

I think in your case, you go back to the dealer and get a new radio.

 

This happened to my 2018 Crosstrek and now happened to our 2019 Ascent. I was told the whole entertainment system had to be replaced. It’s clearly a defect but doesn’t seem Subaru is doing anything about it.

 

When you had this fix, did the dealership charge you or was it covered somehow? Wife’s 2018 Crosstrek is having this issue and I think it’s causing the screen to turn on and off

ME TOO!!! Just happened randomly today Oct 6/24 like wtf Subaru you need to be doing a recall on this!

 

Same. Can still turn the unit on or off, but no volume control on my 2018 Crosstrek Sport. Sounds like a common issue to me.

 

Mine is doing it. I detailed my car and didn't hit or anything. And when I got back in my car the volume wouldn't work unless I pushed on it and it would shut off then I would have to turn it on now it won't go up or down. Considering a hammer as well!!

 

Same issue here. Knob became loose, no accident or damage, just from regular use. Frustrated to read this is such an expensive fix. Have had numerous issues like this with my Impreza ‘17. Kind of fed up with Subaru at this point.

 

That just happened to me for the third time in 6 years and Subaru has to replace the entire radio just for the stupid knob. Had it replaced in October and here it is 3 months later and the knob broke again. Never seen anything like it, Subaru is cheap crap!

 

The same thing is happening to me!! Any luck fixing this?
