My Volume knob basically fell apart.

I can still push to mute or reboot, and then push again to unmute. But the metal stem is all loose and will not raise or lower the volume. I can still do that on the steering wheel, But has anyone had this happen and did you fix it? I am tempted to take a hammer to the stem to see what happens.

I've used the following with some success;
RadioShack #6400148
CRC QD Electonic Cleaner #05103

Just guessing (because this is the internet...) but there is no OEM repair for this. It seems that it's the kind of problem that would require removal and some disassembly of the head unit and then the use of and soldering in some electronic parts (and those are available from many sources). Sorry if this wasn't helpful.

When in doubt of a mechanical (or, really, any) problem, the hammer is your friend! And if that doesn't fix it, try a 5lb metal mallet.
No, they might not fix the problem but they'll definitely scare the hell out of your Crosstrek from causing any future problems.
This is all scientifically-backed fact...

Has anyone managed to source a new potentiometer? I fatfingered the one in my wife's 2019 limited and while I was able to solder the cracked PCB back together, the button function in the potentiometer thinks it is a full time circuit now and continues to reset the system every three seconds. I can fix it easily enough, but not without parts.
