Today I had my dash apart and noticed provision for a 3-4” midrange speaker in front of the multifunction display. Anyone know if this is an option in other markets that we just don’t have here? Did Subaru just give up on ever putting a speaker here? Is there something that goes here that I was unaware of?

If I remember correctly the dash setup is similar to the Ascent and those models have an in-dash speaker. Maybe the dash design is shared with that model?
Is that really for a speaker, given it would be attached to a flimsy plastic structure? Any remotely low frequencies would trigger immediate rattles/buzzing/resonance IMHO. Or are there metal supports/brackets as well?
