The padded WRX or STi arm rest will work and gives you about 1 inch of elevation. Here are the draw backs. You have to replace the whole console from the cup holder back. The lid does not slide forward. Red stitching on the leather seems.

Classic, Wingnut! I've never seen a height adjustable armrest before. If you can't find an OEM replacement, you might have to craft a spacer of some kind. How crafty are you? Do I see a mod on the horizon?

I swear I've seen a height adjustable subaru arm rest but can't find it now. Good one Wingnut .. I'm short as it is so I need as much height as I can get. Yeah, I've been thinking of a simple diy where I incorporate some kind of folding stand to lift up the arm rest .. I find if I put a gatorade bottle in there it's the perfect height.

 

I was thinking more along the lines of a block of wood or a plastic box you could upholster to match your interior, which you could mate to the door and screw onto the existing console.

That looks wider than the XV`s , probably for an Outback.

Actually looking closer at it I don't think it's plug and play for the XV .. probably meant for for older Subaru models
I think I will have to put my brain to work and figure out a diy solution. I'll post if I come up with anything.

 

I know the 2011 Impreza's had an adjustable arm rest similar to the one you have shown (but not as nice). The one you have pictured looks like it's on a newer model.

Replaced mine with a 14 impreza off ebay. Non-sliding and black (tan interior). Seems a bit taller and softer.
