I am looking into doing mine this weekend. Would you suggest leaving it on like you did or taking it off?

 

you can leave it on and use painters tape to tape around it. I taped up the grill area, inside of the grill, and whatever area you think can get sprayed. The good thing is you can peel it off if you dont like it. but it makes it look more rugged. haha

 

You realize you can remove the chrome pieces to alleviate all that masking?

 

I did mine. i left it on and just taped off 2 inches around the body. Super easy job and totally worth it!

 

Do you have to sand down the chrome bits or just spray straight on? Also, how durable is it? Will it get stone chips easier than normal paint?
Im thinking on wether to plasti-dip or just spray it matte black.

 

Didnt sand it or even closely clean the surface. Ive had it on for a few weeks now, and hasnt chipped or torn or faded anywhere. it is truly awesome and super easy to do. i put on 5 coats and it seams to be just as good if not better than paint!

I just painted it as shown, but masked off the front bumper leaving one inch all around the grill, and i just put cardboard behind the grill

 

I just plasti dipped the back of my car, and was gonna start the grill (metallic parts). You guys think its just better to tape around instead of taking anything off? I was told i should take my front bumper off but seems like it may be better off if i didn't ?

How do you just remove the chrome sections of the grill?

 

If I remember correctly, they screw and unclip off the grille.

 

Spot on screws and clips from the back hear is a picture not great but you get idea

I would say no. It is pretty tight when trying to see where all the screws and clips are. It may be possible but would take longer.
