For the past couple weeks, my car has been making a loud creaking when I make a sharp left turn. The sound seems like it's coming from near the front left wheel. No noise when driving straight, so it didn't seem like something touching the rotor. I have been driving through a lot of snow and ice, and for while we weren't getting above freezing (even in the garage), but then we had several days where all the ice on the car melted off, and the sound was still there.
Except today, when it wasn't anymore. The sound it made every time when turning didn't show up. (We got warm enough for puddles yesterday - maybe the splashing had an effect?) I have an appointment with a mechanic for tomorrow (made last week). Thoughts on if I should still go in?
I popped the wheel off a few days ago and looked in there. I couldn't see anything obviously wrong. The CV joint boots looked completely intact. But I don't know much about cars.
