Ran across a site from Crawford performance yesterday, seems as if they have a "Eco block Q2" performance enhancer that is a MAF riser. Has anyone here bought one. The claim is an 8% performance increase, along with an increase in fuel economy as well. Seems to me if you trick the ECU into thinking it is getting less air, it will increase the air, thus leaning out the air/fuel mixture and causing hotter running temps. Thus giving less engine life.
In my KT100 kart, leaning out the mixture equaled faster running, but higher head/exhaust temps. Lean it out too much equaled a blown motor.........

Well. The performance increase was enough in a two stroke that you could make a good pass by leaning out the carb. But, as stated, you didn't want to do it too much for too long, otherwise you were treated to a sudden silence from your motor........ If I raced motocross at higher altitudes I had to increase the air jet size for the same reasons. I'm going to assume(at great risk, I know) that the same holds true for four stroke motors as well......

Not a bad idea for the product I mentioned. Would like to know it's effect on engine life.
I DO know that he's no Scobie newbie. He has done cars for Ken Block and others, he's been around the block a few times......

Fooling the ECU is a bad idea. Even if this product works it is far from an ideal solution for performance gains. If you want more performance get a legitimate tune. I am surprised that a well known tuner would risk reputation by offering a product like this.
