A little past 5 months into my ‘25 Crosstrek Premium. Still, after 5 months almost every day something pops up that , uh…Why? This one: When I pull into my garage, turn off the motor and exit the car, headlights (DRL?) stay on for +/-30 seconds, normal. A couple days ago I had a short drive in the rain. Turn wipers on, headlights come on automatically. Again, normal. Stopped raining about two blocks from home. Turned wipers off, lights stayed on until I got home. It was a bit overcast so I thought nothing of it but when I pulled into the garage and turned off the motor, the lights went out immediately, and have done so every time since. The only control that I touched was to adjust the duration of the intermittent wiper. The headlight setting is on automatic, just the way my salesman set it saying “you can just leave it on automatic“. My first service is scheduled for the end of this month, is this something I should mention when I take it in?
Edit: And of course, 20 minutes after I posted this I had to head out to an appointment. Rained intensely both there and back. Everything worked exactly as I thought it was supposed to. Lights on with the wiper, get to my destination, turn off the wipers, turn off the motor, open the door and lights stayed on for their 30(?) seconds. Same when I got back home. Go figure.

I use the auto setting for night driving. Sometimes they automatically dim for oncoming traffic, sometimes they don't. I think there is a 'trick' when you select auto that enables them properly. Just haven't figured out what the 'trick' is. Visit your Subaru dealer and get us educated. I think it has something to do with when you turn the high beams ON.

Yes, on some models (I think only the Limited and Wilderness), the auto setting will lower your high beams when oncoming traffic is detected. My 2020 Premium does not have this feature.
