I’ve been a long term Honda owner but the 2025 Crosstrek Wilderness in Geyser Blue won me over on May 12. For the money I think its a great value. So far I have added tinted film, color coded door guards, door edge guards, Clearplex windshield film, and the OEM hitch receiver. I want to add Clearplex film to the headlights next.

I go back and forth on whether or not to purchase the Gold Plus plan. What would be a fair price to pay for eight years with the $100 deductible? Also, does the Gold plus coverage begin when the 3 year/36,000 miles factory warranty ends?

I had not heard of this Clearplex product before so your post got me looking more into this windshield protective film.

How much did it cost for your CTW windshield application and what kind of product install warranty did the shop provide?

I paid my dealer for extra windshield protection coverage for my 2024 CTW up front as I'd heard that damaged Subaru vehicle windshields with Eyesight tech can cost from $1200-$1700 per replacement. I was previously plagued by several failing windshields in my older Subaru Legacy & Forester due to rock chip damage and actually drove for lengthy periods of time with embarrassing, cracked windshields because I got sick and tired of replacing them, though the costs were relatively reasonable back then.

I had earlier hoped that Subaru finally thickened their vehicles' windshields on their 24-25 models with some acoustic glass but it seems not as a fellow CTW owner I spoke to recently is already on his fourth windshield. Thankfully I'm still on my original windshield with no visible cracks after 18,000 miles on my rig though I've heard a few worrisome hits along the way.

I totally get it — the majority of buyers prefer automatics, and driving a manual transmission around town can be inconvenient. That said, traffic and parking conditions in the U.S. are generally much better than in many parts of Europe. I once spent two hours driving just nine miles with a manual — it pushed the clutch to its limit.
But when it comes to real-world capability — in sand, mud, snow, or while towing — CVTs just don’t hold up as well.
If Subaru offered a Wilderness model with a manual transmission, I think it would be a hit among drivers who actually take their vehicles off-road.

There is a guy on Youtube who put 125,000 miles on his beater in one year with Clearplex on his windshield. He never did say what he did in terms of monthly maintenance but the Clearplex film looked terrible with lines cut in the film by the wipers and a thick haze on most of the film. I’m planning on hand washing the windshield film weekly with a squeegee and waxing the film once a month per the manufacturer. I’m curious how it looks one year from now. Also I’m going to replace the wiper blades frequently. It may be more trouble and expense in the end but the roads of Houston are brutal on windshields. You pay either way I guess.

We were part of that, otherwise it would have 15792 . My wife and I purchased a '25 Limited , LED Upgrade ,rear bumper cover ,all weather floor liners, Lithium Red pearl, Option package 32 . Love the car, SO FAR !! We hope it remains so. We opted for the mirror package, all the rest of the options were already there. ;)
