Got my 2 3/4" D Shackles installed. Bought a spare oem tow hook so i can mount them front and rear. I think it looks great and adds a nice toughness. What you think?

You've lived with this for a while now. Still like the setup? Did you have to do anything special to make sure the tow hook/ shackle lined up the right way when it was tightened down? I've seen some online videos of guys doing the same thing but theirs ends up at a weird angle.

I used to have the Raceseng tow hooks. Extremely well made, but after a while I took them off. They just looked too delicate.

Not to mention that I'd look at the front of the car and be reminded of wrestler Capt. Lou Albano (RIP), who used to wear a safety pin with a rubber band on his cheek.

While I realize this is a style thing and a trend, you should do what I do and leave that equipment in the spare tire area. Otherwise it will rust because the paint chips off from vibration while driving. Once rusted, you’re not getting that D ring open by hand nor tool, and that is going to require a torch or angle grinder to remove (both tools you don’t want anywhere near a plastic bumper.) leave it in the trunk, and only use it to embarrass the 4x4 that needs pulled out.

A side note, once a year, take the shackles out and spray the threads with Wd40 to keep insulated from moisture and rust.
