I believe there's a sticky post somewhere that puts together all the combinations of tire size vs lift or not. But to answer your question. My car has no lift. I have a set of 215/75/15s on +15 Methods that I put on for off pavement activities. They do not rub. Once in a great while when I am backing out of the driveway, I'll hear the slightest rub, but it really is very minor. Otherwise, I've had it on three wheels, have hit pot holes at speeds I won't admit to on the internet, and no problems.

**For the record. a 2 inch lift will NOT clear tires any better than no lift. Look at where it's rubbing and then measure down 2 inches to see what I mean.
