Okay okay... call me excited. But tonight, after having the Crosstrek for over a month, I drove it for the first time in the dark. Every curve I hit, the corresponding fog light lit up the side of the road. Wow! Sweet! Now back to your regularly schedule program.

Yep, Steering Responsive Fog Lights if I recall. Turn them on and they're on all the time, off and they come on independently depending on which way the wheel is turned.

Is this year or sub model specific?

thanks.

You can disable this with a button on left side low on the dash. By the drivers door. Says SRF OFF. Then it tells you in the center cluster it's OFF. But it defaults back to ON the next time you start the engine.

Any one know if you can kill the SRF function? Even the smallest curve in the road or street activates it. I don't need them in city driving. And, yes, it's a first world problem, but I find it a pain to try and remember to turn them off every time I restart the car.

SRF OFF switch lower left hand side of dash. Oops, should have finished reading before posting...its been a long day.

So So.... I get that this is cool, but if you had the fog lights in the "on" position, wouldn't this offer the same benefit, just all the time?

In most states, it is actually illegal to use fog lights in clear weather. I know that doesn't give pause to most people who use them, but it does hurt the night vision of oncoming drivers. I don't want to impair the vision of anyone driving toward me. There is also the issue of having to replace bulbs more often and they take a tiny nip out of fuel economy.

It's switches that turn lights on and off, not bulbs. If you replace the bulbs, the function is the same. If you replace or add wiring with different switches, the new switches will not have that function.
