Throw out bearing replacement cost

What's fascinating is that noisy throw-out bearings occured on my previous 03 and 08 imprezas. It's as if they've been using the same part since the 1-gear automatic Subaru 360..
They have been since 2000, so they've known about this problem for quite some time. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10150949-9999.pdf And they [partially] blame the driver for it failing. They claim it involves the driver keeping their foot on the clutch for too long. Well I can tell you in the case of my 2014 Impreza which had this problem at 80k, I never ride the clutch for a long period.. I shift to neutral for coasting and stoplights. Pretty pathetic on Subaru's part. The other thing that is pathetic on Subaru's part is to fire off ABS light, VDC light, (disabling them, i think), disable cruise control for some of the most basic check engine lights. Gas cap not sealing completely?--- Subaru takes away your ability to use cruise control.... All a ploy to get you into the dealer to spend money. How many cars are out there running relatively fine with check engine lights on? Subaru couldn't have that, and they didn't want to spend a few extra pennies on their throw out bearing design for EIGHTEEN years.

If your Subaru falls under the oil consumption recall (it was extended past basic powertrain), you could get that done at the same time.. Then the labor is basically covered for you for the throw out bearing b/c they have to pull the engine. The oil consumption test is simply an oil change.. Then when your oil level light comes on or you hit 7500 miles, you head back in and they measure the oil. Some dealers try to prevent tampering on the dipstick and the drain plug, some don't. There are some out there that have made sure the test fails. Some might call it fraud, but I'd say no more fraudulent than Subaru's practices.

As others have said, strongly consider doing the clutch, flywheel and related parts at the same time.
