I purchased the SacnGauge II about three weeks ago for my Crosstrek. After getting everything hooked up I started getting the Starlink error notifications and the light would turn red. I found the Subaru TSB stating that some OBD readers can create that error and to wait at least 5 seconds after starting the car to plug in an OBD device. Not wanting to do that every time I contacted Linear Logic, the manufacturer of the ScanGauge. They were very responsive and said they knew of this issue and I could send in the gauge to be reprogrammed. I did have to pay to ship it to them, but not the return shipping. When I got the gauge back there were no notes or paperwork. I reinstalled the gauge and now everything works perfectly. From what I can tell they built in a 30 second startup delay. Otherwise, everything else works the same as before. Below is a picture showing the current version on the ScanGauge. If anybody else is having this issue I highly recommend contacting Linear Logic to get the gauge updated.

I've had a ScanGauge II in my 18 Crossy since I got it, never had a problem with StarLink. However, my SG II is an older version, having got it back in 2006 when I had my '03 Impreza. Used it also in my 04 Forester.

This is where I mount mine.

The ScanGauge 3 is SOOOOOOOOO much better and no codes to screw with!:) It’s all there automatically and then some. I’ve been working w mine since April and found that if you start the car with it plugged in it will red light every single time. If you wait about 10seconds after startup it never happens..every time😎

Do yourselves a solid and upgrade that SG2 as fast as possible.

I would definitely do that if it fits where I'd like to install it. I hate hanging stuff off my windshield.

I hear you. I have since moved it down to the center console bottom opening where some of you have the 2. I used a suction cup magnetic phone mount suctioned horizontally to the inside wall of the “cubby” to hold it in place. Run the cable through the separation in console pieces to the left, up and under the steering wheelthen down to the OBDII port. I velcroed and tacked the excess cable up under the steering column so it wouldn’t hang. Works splendidly there. 👍🏻

I would appreciate if you can post a pic of how it sits in that location.

So far, I've only did the "unplug SGII, start, re-plug SGII" procedure one time, and on two subsequent starts the Starlink LED stayed green. My SGII is old enough to have it's own driver's license so I don't know if it will be worth it to send back.

I too looked at the SCIII but just didn't like how big it was. I would try contacting them about your SGIII to see if they can reprogram it so you don't have to unplug/plug all the time. Personally, doing that all the time would drive me nuts.

mine lives under the armrest when I’m not needing it so it’s not to much of a pain imo

Loved my SGII. Love my SGIII even better. It does give CVT fluid temp . I have mine on the left side of the dash as the poster above. May look at relocating to the center cubby hole as above also. It is a lot bigger than the SGII but has a lot more features.
