If the dealer could not program the Subaru FOB, then why trust that a non Subaru shop would be able to? Unless the FOB in question is an aftermarket one?

 

Hi Everyone, Lost one of my Remote Start Key Fobs. Does anyone have the Subaru Part # for this fob? On the back it says Model # 4360630 . FCC ELVATRPE

Found a few on Ebay but most of them are stating you have to have locksmith program not the dealer.. Very confused. TIA

I believe they state to use a locksmith because they’re far less expensive than a stealership. This according to online ads (eBay, Amazon) I read while searching for a replacement Toyota remote.

 

Cost reasons makes more sense. But you need to get a more reputable locksmith also. I have been to locksmiths who should not be locksmiths.

 

I dropped a fob on my wife’s Mazda, killed it. Ace Hardware sold fobs, but between the price and the programming, it was as cheap to go to the dealer. It’s still $300 or more.

 

ask your local Ace hardware.

 

They are not any cheaper, in my experience

 

Check this out. Seems to have a part number at the beginning, but a wise fellow would do a lot of checking about exact vehicle, remote start brain model, etc..

@harleymhs By chance do you have the OEM tag with the code? With the code you do not need a locksmith. One of the two keys come with the KEY-CODE.

 

That's what that is.
Dealer forgot to mention what that was for.
Kinda happy I made that set my spare set rather than daily use, so they're not as likely to get lost.

Don’t mean to highjack thread but I’m just now figuring out only the app will remote start my 2024 wilderness and not my fob! What’s up with that?

 

But yet my fob has the rear gate lift button but my car don’t have the feature……?

 

If you want fob-based remote start you have to buy it as an extra, installed option.
