What phone holder do You recommend for the 24 - 25 Crosstrek, and where do You mount it?

Even if a phone isn't compatible to use Subaru's wireless charging, as long as a phone fits into the cubby hole, it keeps it in place instead of taking up room in a pocket. With Apple Carplay and Android Auto, virtually every phone can be Bluetoothed to the infotainment center after pairing to a vehicle. This relegates phones to rest anywhere inside a vehicle and use the hands free steering wheel buttons or touchscreen.

However, if you're interested in suction cup, magnetic or clip mounts, there are plenty of choices to suit everyone. Windshield suction cup mounts with scissor or magnetic base, clip mounts to air vents or on the dash lip with vertical/horizontal and tilt adjustments, etc. Just typing in a search should return thousands of phone mounts to wade thru.

But seriously, with soooooooooooooooooo many options for phone holders out there, you should be able to find one or three that meet your phone holding needs :sneaky:

Also don't see these type of questions very often on other forums as well. :giggle:
Seriously...if you google "cell phone holder" just into amzn you will get over 100,000 results!! And you are asking for our/MY opinion on what you should use? :p

Does this phone holder make my CT's trunk look too fat? :ROFLMAO:

Hi, devils advocate here.

I obviously don’t know this for sure, but I assume when people ask something like this, they are fully aware that they have so many choices. That is precisely why they ask for people’s real-world opinions. They want to make sure they make the correct choice, and forums are here to help with that. They want to cut through the clutter.

Having said that, in this particular instance, I think a phone holder is pointless in a car with wireless phone mirroring. Anything that Apple CarPlay/Android Auto doesn’t show honestly shouldn’t be messed with in the car anyway, and seeing the phone out in the open may be distracting.

I don't know about more recent Crosstrek models, but when I sync the Google Maps to the car's screen, it doesn't show traffic like on my phone. Sure, I can get navigation, but I would like to see traffic backups so I can choose an alternate route even if navigation insists I stay on the congested route.

ProClip makes a couple of mounts specific to the Crosstrek. I have one that mounts to the left pillar, and I use it to hold my wireless switch controller for my lights.

For my phone, I just use an el-cheapo suction cup mount with an extendable arm, stuck to the wireless charging pad. It holds my phone right next to the gear selector where I can reach it easily. I don't want it blocking my view through the windshield or obscuring any of my instruments and screens. This was the only place I could find that it would be convenient but not obtrusive.

I do agree that with Android Auto, most functions are already available on the infotainment screen. But one thing I haven't found is a good weather/radar app that's compatible with Android Auto. I've tried a couple, and they suck. So I want to be able to pull up the radar on my phone if I'm getting into some foul weather ahead.

Maybe people come here in the hope of asking actual humans, because Google (and other search engines) are generally getting worse, more full of "AI" slop and lies, more SEO driven, more advertiser driver, every year... and they think that a place full of humans who've all owned Crosstreks and some of whom have real experience with various products, might have better advice than some "AI" generated "review" page.

Also, these discussions lead to interesting ideas, like using that pillar phone mount to do other things like a switch box or a screen for a second camera. Shushing these discussions kills any chance of interesting ideas coming up.

To the OP's question, I like this mount and plan to buy one myself. Clean and out of the way. My wife and I both have phones so by mounting at least one, that leaves the storage tray open for the other.

Personally, don't like to drive with my phone perched on the windshield or dash peripheral blocking my view. I have found the cup holder phone mount the easiest for me, I have a 21'Crosstrek Sport

Purchased this one 2 weeks ago to replace the old model I had, which lasted me 2years.

I'm not sure if they still have the cupholders in the center console in the brand new models but I can easily glance change settings and see my phonescreen, if needed.
