After I thought I know everything about my 17 Crosstrek owning it for 6 months, last week I stopped at my mailbox and left the car running, door opened , but when I tried to open my rear hatch I could not. Safety issue? I can't imagine why. Anyone else ever tried this

If you used your key fob to unlock the one click does just the drivers door. 2 does the rest.

Is that what happened?

Maybe auto lock after driving although not sure if these cars ha e that.

I had that happen - pulled over to grab something in a bag in the cargo area and couldn't open the hatch until I turned off the engine, even though the fob was in my pocket. Not sure what that accomplishes...

Exactly happened that way. Not sure why hatch won't open . Some type of safety?

I've had the same happen with my 2015 with fob in pocket and tailgate wouldn't open. Not exactly sure of the root cause but usually hitting the door unlock button when getting out of the car allows the tailgate to open. Seems kind of dumb.
