So I got a new 2025 Premium last week in Offshore Blue Metallic. Day after I got it home (in sunlight, was cloudy on delivery day) I found a scratch in the rear bumper down to black. I debated just touching it up myself (and should have apparently), but contacted the dealer and they wanted to make it right.
Had me bring it in for their touch up guy. Result was ok, but not perfect. Had some speckles and texture (like dust in the clear coat). Also some minor overspray on the bumper protector and you can see where he pulled the masking tape. Then yesterday (day after it was touched up) I notice in good sunlight the touch up doesn’t match…different shade. Ugh.
So I’m not happy and contact the dealer again. They now want me to bring it in for their body shop to have a go at fixing it. I’m not sure I want that. I don’t like the idea of pulling the bumper and reattaching it. Something always gets broken or damaged. If they try to color match the whole bumper I suspect they’ll blend it out on to the metal sides…I definitely don’t want that. So I’m thinking it probably my isn’t worth letting them touch it again. But I’m still ticked at the mismatch.
At this point I’m considering Platidipping the rear part or the bumper to look more like a Wilderness. If it sucks, just peel it off. I’ve also considered a Wilderness bumper, but that’s gonna need painting too. Also looked at aftermarket bumpers that replace part of the plastic bumper, but none would cut high enough to remove the mismatch area.
I took rubbing compound to the mismatch area to try and remove the touch up paint and blend it, but it’s not doing much. Gonna be slow going at best. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions? I want this fixed or covered up, but not sure the best course of action. I’m picky enough where if the dealer messes it up worse the car is gonna find itself Carmax’d as soon as I can break even.

), however this scratch is in an area that it probably going to get some wear on it. I've mellowed in my old age and would let whatever they do be the final fix, unless it is off the charts bad. If it is still really obvious you might be able to push for a new bumper.
