So I recently bought a new Crosstrek Limited. I ordered it with the roof rack crossbars so I could mount a ski rack to the car. Subaru sells a roof rack that mounts to the current size/shape crossbars, but it costs $379.95 plus tax and shipping, and I really don't want to spend that kind of cash on something I will likely only use once or twice per year.

I have an older model Subaru (Thule) ski rack that mounted just fine to the crossbars on my 2004 Forester. However, I tried mounting it to the 2023 Crosstrek, and the mounting brackets don't fit quite right (the newer crossbars are shaped differently and slightly larger). Here is a photo of the rack I have, with the mounting brackets and bolts shown:

There is nothing wrong with the ski rack itself; it's just that the mounting brackets don't fit my crossbars. Has anyone had any luck mounting an older model ski rack like this one to a newer Crosstrek? Any pointers to replacement mounting brackets/hardware that would allow me to mount this rack to my new car would be greatly appreciated.

I never had a Thule, but I've had a Yakima roof mounted bike rack. They sold different mounting brackets for their racks, so it could move the rack from car to car. Check the Thule site.

Oops, Thule makes them for Subaru, so maybe there won't be much, if any, savings at Thule. I'd also find out what part you need and check on Amazon or even eBay for second hand stuff.

Maybe this?

Thanks, but from the photos and description it doesn't look like it would work with the rack I have. There needs to be a way to horizontally thread a bolt through each bracket, and I don't see that being possible here from the given info.
