Total overkill for most daily use unless you have a lot of Auxiliary lighting or accessories. But even then it still is.
I disagree. They tolerate heat, cold and abuse (e.g. being discharged) better and they also last longer so the cost over time is negligible. Consider it an upgrade, like mudflaps...

I'll agree, everything you said is true. I'm only speaking from my experience. I used to be a low voltage auto tech. The only time we ever sold an AGM to our customers was at their request, and in most cases they would absolutely never need it.

Its definitely a comfort when living in a cold state like I do and that's the biggest advantage of an AGM, but I've personally never had an issue starting on a cold day. A battery tender is a cheap alternative to upgrading lol.

Yeah, we had a scare with the OEM battery after only a year, up in the local mountains, when it was way below zero. It was worth the peace of mind.

At the two year mark the oem battery went out on my 2015. Dealer was closed so I put an Autozone battery in it. I called Subaru and explained. Rep I spoke with said to email him the receipt. Three business days later I had a check in the mail for the full amount, plus an additional $2, if I remember correctly. Subaru won me over with that one. Most other manufacturers would have told me to go screw a cactus.
