Looking for one wheel

1449 Views 18 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  BobNH
I'm looking to upgrade the tires on my 2021 Crosstrek sport, and I need another wheel for the spare. I am going to stick with the factory wheels for now. Does anyone know where I can get a cheap / used wheel that looks like this one? Pretty sure it is this "17x7.0-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, dark gray finish" that I am looking for (came on the car when I bought it).

I found one wheel for cheap on eBay. For the tire, I'd recommend asking a tire shop for a used AT tire in that size.

Sounds like they're planning on getting new tires, and wants the 5th wheel prior, so they can buy all new tires.
From my understanding anywho!

Tai - I would search local Craigslist, Facebook market place if you want to just pickup. Like Sarang mentioned, ebay would have them as well.

Yes, I want one extra wheel so I can have 5 matching so that when I get my new tires, the spare matches.
I've looked on Ebay, I just can't find anyone selling this exact one other than sets of 4. I'll look on the other sites too. Thank you!
I'm excited to finally start my upgrades that I've been planning for so long!

Be aware that a full size spare does not fit in the spare tire compartment in the back of the vehicle.

i wonder how many guys who have a full size, matching spare have actually had to use it?
I did on a 2007 Forester XT. I did a 5 wheel rotation with the full size spare. Only needed it once for a flat though.

Yes, I have a tire carrier for the hitch ☺ Using the inside portion where the tire used to be for extra storage!

I’d rather not wait until I need it to get it😂 I have a lift and bigger tires, so the donut spare that came with the car will no longer work. I don’t want to be stranded on a back road with no reception and no spare😂

There are a bunch for sale on EBay right now. Personally would buy a wheel that is not reconditioned. Most are as from the factory but just be aware to look for that.

Price was about $230 for them.

i hear you. i go way out there too where towing is a minimum $1000. but still i wonder
Flats only happen when you least expect them and when it is most inconvenient. If you dont get the full size spare, you will have a flat in no time. If you do get the full size spare you probably will never have a flat. Just Murphy's Law.

That's exactly it! I'd rather have it and never need it than not have it and need it. I think I may have found one that will work. Why was one matching wheel the hardest part of my build to find? Haha

well the car is equipped with a spare and i have a AAA card

but yeah if i spent a lot of time off road in remote areas i would want a full size spare and a different jack

AAA Card isn't going to do anything for me when I'm off grid :) Although that would be the cheaper option!

you probably know some of the most heavily modified vehicles on the road never see the dirt :ROFLMAO:

Yup, we have lots of huge dually pickups up here that have never seen dirt or towed anything. Has more to do with income from the Bakken oil patch.

At least they look cool, right! I actually work in the Overland Industry and love to off-road and camp. I'm a bit limited with my stock Crosstrek right now, but my upcoming lift, tires, and other mods will help a little. I have a custom sleeper system in the Crosstrek that allows me and my 6'2 boyfriend to sleep comfortably in there :)

Working in the industry I see a ton of glam builds that never see dirt. But hey, at least they look cool 😂 Fortunately mine will not be like that!

This is actually a better idea than most are giving it credit for.
If you do rotate all 5, and get a flat, you take that one out of rotation and get a new one, mayne ahave it down, maybe leave it new. But you won't have to buy 4 new tires due to the AWD just because of one flat.
