LOL, I've also had some ridiculously profile tires on some cars. Not beefy but go around corners like they're on rails.
IOW, the opposite of "beefy". I used to cringe at the low profile tire trend. My first thought was with that little amount of rubber between the rim and the road, so much could go wrong.

Back in the 70's and 80's, only race cars had 50% and 60% aspect ratio tires. Now most cars and even SUV's come stock with these. Heck, some cars even have 45% tires.

The Mercedes I traded for the Subaru had 225/40/17's on the front and 245/45/17's on the rear. That was the stock size.

My car prior to my Subaru was the new Tesla Model S and it had 295/30/21’s and all it took was a pothole in LA to get two blown out tires that cost me $1,000 + the cost to get a wheel repaired. That is why I am riding on these now!
That would be my concern. With so little rubber between the rim and the road, a pothole can take out a rim quite easily. Leave the ultra-low profile tires for the race track.

One of my cars has 265/35/18 on the front and 305/30/19 on the rear. The other one has 265/35/18 on the front and 295/30/18 on the rear.

<<<<<--------So the 245/50/18's on my Crosstrek are balloon-like to me. :p

Same here. Horses for courses. I wouldn't take a Lotus Esprit off very flat pavement. Nor to San Francisco...

Rubbing at full lock. I think I would of sized down to 215/75 maybe for winter I’ll try some 215 General Grabber ATX or something. Planning to get the Ironman 4x4 2 inch lift soon so I will update the photo.

2016 Crosstrek stock height Lachute Performance LP-1 15x7 +15 offset. Kumho Road Venture AT51 in LT215/75R15. No rubbing noticed yet, tested at full lock on both side. The tires poke just a little outside the fender. Love the look.

Edit: increase of ± 0.5-1 L/100km.
