Here in KY I just ordered the 2.0i Limited, Sunshine Orange with black leather interior with package 23 (Eyesight, navigation, moonroof, Harman Kardon speakers), all weather floor mats, rear seatback protector, and rear bumper cover. MSRP $30,938. I'm paying $28,580.

That's pretty good for brand new car that isn't out yet and the dealer still had tons of 2017s he wanted to sell, right?

You got a redesigned vehicle, loaded with all options. Contrary to popular belief, opinions cost. Sounds like an awesome vehicle. I think you will be extremely happy [emoji4]. Enjoy.

Just curious if any of you did a trade in when purchasing your 2018's. I plan on getting some prices for a 2018 limited. I would like to trade my existing suv in as well. I guess it may be harder to do that via e-mails.

Which dealer did you go through? I'm in the Sacramento/Elk Grove area and they can't even give me a quote yet here. Thanks!

Just ordered our '18 Limited with Eyesight (no nav, that's what Android Auto is for) and remote engine start. I've got VIP through work so I got straight up invoice with no haggling. Total is $27,935 including destination fee. Pretty happy with that.

congrats.

Deb, I forgot there was already a thread on pricing. By all means move mine over if that is possible.

I just got a quote yesterday for a '18 Limited with Eyesight (Option Package #22). I figure I'll get the Homelink mirror, seat protectors, etc. afterwards and install them myself to save the dealer upcharge. Plus, it's fun to do some DIY. :) MSRP is $29305 and the dealer has offered it to me for $27615. That's $1690 below MSRP. I'm debating ordering still... mostly because I can't decide between a blue or red exterior. Seems like a decent deal, but part of me still wants a little more.

Never tell them you're doing a trade-in when negotiating price.

I negotiated price via email, then showed up at the dealer when it came in with a $500 coupon someone here had given me, and I told them I wanted to do a trade-in. My trade-in, however, was negligible. I was going to junk the car, but didn't want to deal with the plates, so I traded it in for a price that was worth my time not spend dealing with it. But, in the past I've done the same - throw in the trade at the end.

Sound advice, exactly what I did. For me the diffference between trading in (for tax break) and
selling it on my own (hassle) was well worth it.

Just ask your dealer if they corrected the oil consumption for 2018. My 2014 burns 2qts bet. oil changes. And if you are going to the dealers for oil changes beware of the 6qts they bill you for. the XV 2.0 engine only requires 5qts and 3ounces(.1 of a quart) with filter they overcharge you for 29ounces and if your vehicle burns oil you are going to need add more at your expense. Do the math.

Thanks for the experience! I think I finally have a dealership with a price I can live with for ordering the Crosstrek and need to go in to sign the paperwork and make that initial deposit for the order. I have an ambassador's coupon but wasn't sure when to bring that up. I am still deciding whether I want to do a private party sale with my current vehicle or try the trade in value route. That'd mostly depend on what they offer. Which would be the better one to bring up first? And when in the process do I bring up either since I already negotiated the Out-the-Door price over email with the Sales Manager?

Bring up the trade in first. Typically they will low ball you.
Check kelly blue book.com to see what you can expect on trade in and private sale. Once you know if you are trading in and agreed to the price, then i would give the coupon

If you feel they are low balling you, negotiate higher for your trade in. Take the trade in amount that they offer, multiply that by your tax rate and that total is what the trade in is worth to you. Subtract that total from what you think you could sell it for privately, and that difference is what you can decide whether or not you want to do the trade in.

I got them to go up $1500 on my trade, after I had negotiated the price I was going to pay for the car.

Well, I went to the dealer and made it official. In another month or two I will have my very first Subaru... yay! They weren't offering much for my current car as a trade (probably because I'd talked them down so much on the price of the car), but that's ok. I'll do a private party sale at some later date.

Here's what I ended up ordering:

2018 Crosstrek 2.0i Limited with Option Package 22 (Eyesight + Moonroof).
No other options... I'll do the other add-ons myself.
Color: Cool-Grey Khaki
MSRP $29305
Invoice: $27615
Sales Price: $27153
That's $2152 below invoice. :wavetowel2:
I also had an Ambassador's coupon, which gets subtracted from the Out The Door price (taxes, dealer fees, etc. included).
OTD Price Originally: $29000
OTD Price with Ambassador Coupon: $28500

I put the $1000 deposit down and the order is in!
I'm so excited... August cannot get here fast enough!

That's great Jenfy ! I think you did really well and got yourself a terrific vehicle at a very good price. I would be doing a jig in the parking lot.
Not sure what is worse, the negotiating or the impending wait.

I wanted to do a jig in the parking lot, but thought that might be a little mean... so I just waited until I pulled out of the lot and was on the road to do a little jig in my car. I think they were a little surprised when I pulled out the Ambassador's coupon at the end since I'd done all the negotiations via email (much better than in person IMHO), but I wanted that piece of paper in hand with the numbers we'd discussed before I mentioned it.

Since I skipped all the other add-ons, I'm going to try to keep myself busy during the looong wait until delivery by researching the best places to get the options I wanted as cheaply as possible... and endlessly consuming videos and reviews so I can be as ready to understand and use all the new tech as possible.

Thanks to everyone on here for the great advice on negotiating!
