Filled up today. The display says I was averaging 29.4mpg. (trip 2 has never been reset as long as I've had the car. Says 28.2mpg)

The actual math:
+363 miles on tank
13.45 gallons to fill tank
26.98mpg
31mph avg spd

So the display was off by 2.4mpg. I managed to do this by driving on the turnpike to Tulsa and back, got about 31mpg on that stretch, then spent the last 1/4 tank driving around town.

Clearly the computer doesn't have enough memory to actually remember the entire trip, or it wouldn't be reporting high.

I'm with freeasabird and Rorgaard. I use pencil and paper for fill-ups seeing that the average computer read out is a couple clicks higher.

The CVT, just one week old, [1st] fill-up so far, 436 miles, 31.38 mpg [7.5/100km] 25% urban/75% extra urban. Hilly, rainy while contending with the crazy folk terrain [NYC to central CT back to UpState]. I think the first tank is a keeper.

Another fill-up [the 2nd fill-up since purchase] with the CVT 2015.

438.7 miles [706 km]
14.55 gal [US] [55 litres]
30.15 mpg [US] 7.8 L/100km
Multi Function Display read 33mpg average for this tank. [hilarious]

60% extra urban, 40% stop and go Urban. [moving average for this tank =34 mph/55kph]

1,283 miles total so-far.

408.2 miles [656.93 km]
13.85 gal [US] [52.44 litres]
29.46 mpg [US] 8.0 L/100km
Multi Function Display read 31.5 mpg average for this tank. [hilarious]

60% extra urban, 40% stop and go Urban. [moving average for this tank =34 mph/55kph still same commute]

I'm into break-in mode reaching 1000 miles

Well, I got 433 on the latest tank. It's definitely getting better as it's maturing. Went from 360 when new to 433 with 4600 miles on it.

I wonder if the brain trust at the gas companies use Winter gas in Florida at this time of the year... If they do, you'll probably get even better mileage once it goes back to Summer gas.

2019 XV 2.0 litre - The app I use on my iPhone tells me after seven fills I've averaged 38mpg (2959 miles) - my hunch on a really good run (Cambridge to The Highlands I'd get 500 miles from the tank!). The car seems to be getting better and better!
