Disabling starlink

Given the fact that his name is on the paperwork, I don't think there's a lot of hope. My understanding is that the only sure-fire way to disable all that stuff is to remove the telematics module ... and doing that requires temporarily removing the audio head unit and then patching some wires. And since it's a leased vehicle, that's probably not a good idea.

Time to get a new Subaru, I think.
 
Before anyone panics, some more info on the 3G thing.

This issue only applied to 2016-18 Subarus, so newer vehicles don't have to worry about it. Subaru started offering a free hardware upgrade for the affected vehicles like 3 years ago, provided the vehicle was enrolled in Starlink. My understanding is that the 3G networks were shut down last year, so the whole thing is pretty much moot at this point.
