In other cars, the rear cover of the center console is typically where you might find a fold-out pair of cupholders. In the Crosstrek, it's a naked, smooth panel.

Are there are any mods or replacement panels available that do anything interesting with this area? For example, an extra 12V accessory or USB charger slot would be great!

A new OEM one is only $6.86. I'm tempted to get one, cut a hole in it and install whatever. (Odds of this happening are low due to laziness)

I've been thinking about this as well, but I think it's a no-go. It's pretty tight back there for rear passenger foot space. My kids would kick (and break) any plug sticking out of there. The only way would be to recess the plug enough so the wires plugged into it are also recessed.
