Why is there a carbon filter in my intake? Can I get rid of it? What does it do? Just a bit of info as to the science behind the filter,
a carbon filter in the Crosstrek intake. The video is really informative....

Informative. It's not like the Crosstrek is demanding huge amounts of air for it's 165hp. Forced induction would be a different story.

Someone previously posted a video with dyno runs that showed removing this filter OR replacing the paper filter with a high-flow produced the same amount of gains - very minimal. Doing both did not increase the base gain.

Did they use the stock engine tune? That’s kind of strange but I guess it makes sense. Reducing airflow restriction will only do so much with the stock tune.
