Long story short, I’ve been told I have a cam carrier leak on my 17 Crosstrek, and it has a little over 91k miles on it. It was initially found by Subaru and they told me it would be 3k to get it fixed. Took it to a recommended Subie shop in my area and they said it could just be warm gaskets which they replaced. Took it to another Subie shop for my 90k mile service and they told me there’s a cam carrier leak that needs to be resealed. They quoted me $3,150 but said I can contact SOA about it to see if I can get financial help. I got the official quote from my local dealer for $3,364.55. Is this a legit price? Does this need to be done? Is there anything I can do? I was told it’s a small leak and needs to be fixed eventually.
