Unless you're cooking it, brake fluid lasts longer than that, it's preventative maintenance. Are you asking if others approve of your decision?
I do, it's the MIL's car for one. If anybody asks I always err on the side of caution. Plus unless she's going to do it herself later might as well knock it out while you're there. FWIW it's an easy job if you have the tools.
