I want to add heated mirrors to my base model Crosstrek. Is this as simple as buying the switch and heated mirrors? Can anyone confirm if the wiring harness is already there?

I was on the path of doing this but winter just showed up in southern California so I decided it was a) too late into winter b) I'm too lazy hahaha

but prior years had both heat/signal wiring...

Did you end up doing the heated mirror retrofit?
Wow, old thread. To answer the OP, yes the harness is in there and its really easy. You buy the plug-n-play kit, remove the old mirrors, plug in the new mirrors and set in place. There is no switch as it's connected directly to the defogger control.

That's great. Did you end up doing this retrofit yourself?

Looking to do the same, I pulled the stock mirrors off of my '19 base tonight and found the black and white clips with the connector mate for the auto-dim behind a piece of sticky foam (panels 5 and 6 on the pdf Doca linked), but no wiring for the heater terminals. I need to pull the door panels in the near future to add some sound dampening, hoping maybe they're in there and can be pulled out to the mirror bodys.

the dealer told me that i would also need the dimmable rear view mirror
Only if you want them to dim. The heating function is controlled by the defroster.

It finally got cold enough to confirm my heated mirrors are working. As I said above, when I removed the mirror glass on my '19 Base, I found the wiring for the auto-dim, but no leads for heating. Since I have no plans to upgrade to the auto-dim mirrors, I re-purposed the existing wiring for heating.

Here is the wiring harness configuration I found behind the door panel.

I used a meter to find that pin 3 on the "From Car" side of the connector is the live when the rear defrost is on. I confirmed pin 8 to be ground. Since I'm re-purposing wires, I simply moved the pins from 4 and 12 on the "To Mirror" side, to positions 3 and 11. This page on de-pinning a Subaru connector was helpful.

At the mirror, I found the auto-dim connector as described in Doca's link above. I cut the wires that correspond to the pins I moved and and added terminal connectors.

Push the connectors on to the pins on the back of the mirror, tuck the excess wire in to the mirror body, snap the glass back in place, and done.
