Hello,

I'm new to the forum and new to Subaru.

...bought my first XV a little over a year ago.

I'm making wholesale modifications to make mine more capable off-road.

I'd like to add a second battery and better alternator to accommodate the additional electrical load from lights and winch I'll be adding to my XV.

Has anyone done this? Can you provide details on how you accomplished the task?

If not, does anyone have recommendations to compensate for the additional electrical usage?

First I would do a big three upgrade before doing anything else. As for alternator I’m running a singer 370 amp cause I have a sound system in my car. As for battery that should be to terrible difficult to add but I would do that last

Can you define a "big three" upgrade?

You could replace the OEM battery, which isn't that great, with a higher rated AGM like an Odyssey.

A big three upgrade is upgrading the power wire to the alternator with a bigger wire, engine ground and battery ground. On mine I have 2/0 cables for my big theee but you would be fine with a 4 gauge or 0 gauge
