Hi, I'm new to the forums, but have already received lots of useful tips and info from the threads--Thanks!

My new 2019 Crosstrek, Cool Gray Khaki comes in tomorrow and I'm really excited.
Here's my question. I want the remote start ability.

My dealer will charge me $495 +tax to install a remote engine starter.

BUT, the new Starlink Security Plus package for 2019 has some new features, one of those being:
***Remote Engine Start with Climate Control and Heated Seats ***

He says that for $375 I can get 7 years of STARLINK Safety Plus and Security Plus (at time of purchase I assume) so about $54 a year and it would
be cheaper and a better option than installing a physical remote engine starter.

Now sure what to pick?? Any advice, is Starlink worthwhile with remote start at this price?, pro's and con's of each, or which would you choose? TIA

Link to the info:( way down on the page for the 2019 Crosstrek)
https://www.subaru.com/engineering/starlink.html

Here's all the new info for 2019:

STARLINK Safety Plus
Package Includes:

Enhanced Roadside Assistance
SOS Emergency Assistance
Maintenance Notifications
Vehicle Health Report
Vehicle Condition Check
Diagnostic Alerts
Service Appointment Scheduler*
Pricing: Three Years Free

Remote Lock & Unlock
Remote Horn & Lights
Remote Vehicle Locator
Remote Engine Start with Climate Control and Heated Seats
Stolen Vehicle Recovery Plus
Stolen Vehicle Immobilizer

I have a cool gray khaki 2019 Crosstrek. To use remote start with Starlink you do NOT need the remote starter. I upgraded the starlink subscription for $75 total for 3 years. The app is sweet and works great. You can set the climate control when you go to remote start. The crosstrek has manual switches for heated seats, so you cannot turn those on/off remote.

Just make sure you don't overpay. Once my basic subscription was setup I just logged in and upgraded for cheaper than what the dealer had originally quoted.

any idea if the 2018's also allow for the same starlink remote features?
I do not see any options for that in the app for the 2018, and since the 2019 has added wi-fi connectivity perhaps something else is different which allows for these added features vs the 2018. I would LOVE to get remote start in the app. Also, $375 for 7 years is actually pretty good, I paid $250 at delivery for 3 years total access and of course have less features than the 2019. Believe me before I ever renew I plan to bring that point up. :)

Our '18 Limited has Wi-Fi but almost a year from now it seems worthless.

Remote start would be great for when we go up into the mountains. We have the Starlink package. Anyone tried starting their '18?

I was wondering how you got yours to work. I have the 19 Crosstrek and both Starlink packages but the remote start is not an option on my app.

You probably need keyless entry and push button start.

Can anyone suggest an autostart that isn't Subarus? I want an autostart that has ONE remote that control both the engine start and the door locks (through Subaru). Is that possible? I don't want two remotes. That's ridiculous for a 2018. One after market remote that controls everything. If there's an app that can start the car and allow me to use the Subaru remote to do the doors, it would be even better.

Does such a device exist?

^ Just to add we only went with their app option since we wanted to carry only 1 remote from Subaru.

As a Delivery Specialist let me say this,

I highly recommend the added STARLINK Security Plus upgrade on ANY Telemetrics Version 2.0 vehicle.
With in a few minutes of Activation we had the Customer in the Delivery area setting up their start procedure.

My Team and the Customer had so much fun seeing the car start and while looking inside seeing that the heated seats were
on and so was the defrosters.

I'll be getting this for a 3 year run myself for mine. Maybe more because I plan to keep it after the lease.

If you have questions, Please ask or for a Demo, or Download the App and use it in the DEMO Mode and see what it shows you.

Where is this $375 quote for 7 years coming from? I just put a deposit down on a 2019 Forester, and I was told that after 3 years the STARLINK package is $100 a year, plus $4.95 a month for remote start. That would be $790. Do you get a discount if you pay up front?

This is a Crosstrek forum but a lot of the new tech is the same.

@Kookookeedoo, what's your question? '19 models can be remote started via Starlink.

Hi, I am contemplating the drone app. Did you look at any others before you decided on Drone? I went to a 3rd party to have the remote start with key fob option installed. They said I could upgrade anytime. Drone costs $200 (plug and play) PLUS $50/year. This is over the $350 I already paid for the remote starter. Ouch!
