I have a 2015 MT that has recently been giving me some issues with the air conditioning. The air still blows cold, however the compressor seems to be short cycling when the engine RPM's are anything above roughly 2,000. It seems to kick on for about 4-6 seconds, then off for roughly 6-10 seconds. Living in south Alabama, this is rather noticeable. The first two and a half years I owned the car I was in New England so the A/C wasn't used very often.
I attached a full set of gauges to it and saw around 45psi on the low side and about 230psi on the high side. For the ambient temperature at the time of the test, the chart I found showed this to be about what you are looking for. Those pressures held steady, I haven't noticed any short cycling at idle speed.
I just recently came across the known issue of bad compressors from the factory. This issue doesn't quite seem to fit that. I may be wrong?
I can't imagine my compressor clutch lasting very long constantly cycling like it is, and with such a small engine, it is very noticeable.
Has anyone ran into an issue like this? I'm dreading taking it to the dealer as I'm pretty sure I won't walk out of there without spending $1000.
Air conditioning in Alabama isn't so much a recommendation as it is a requirement.
