First time dealing with CVT, Subaru does not make it easy with all the differing types AND dealer parts/service department not very confident in what to use except for whatever is in that $400 5 gallon bucket that may or may not void my extended warranty.

2023 Crosstrek Sport w/CVT (non-manual T690 transmission)
Just hit 36,000 so would like to do DIY preventative maintenance drain and fill of gear oils: CVT, FRONT DIFF and REAR DIFF.

I just need confirmation of OEM fluids for each mechanism and possible aftermarket alternatives.

I’m mechanically inclined and have done a lot of research, but still hesitant with what is appropriate for my specific application for the CVT. Diff fluid for both front and rear 75w-90 API GL-5 seems more straightforward.

Anyone have first hand knowledge or experience with TR690 CVT fluid and which OEM # or best aftermarket alternatives to use? Specifically for 2023 Crosstrek Sport? I know it may be few and far between since we all may be just hitting the recommended maintenance interval/3 years from purchase.

I do not have the technical info you are after. But after reading lots and lots my one word advice would be....dealer. CVT fluid change is not the job to try and save a few bucks on...for me anyway..and I do a lot DIY.. But many folks on here DIY it.

I imported 6- 1 quart bottles of CVTF-III from a Detroit dealer after being advised that only 20 litre pails were available in Canada. Used ~4.5 bottles for the dump, fill, heat-up and top-up.
Choose Motul Gear 300 75W90 for the diffs. It’s my go-to for the FRS manual tranny and diff.
Have rolled about 1000 kl on our summer tour since the changes and it’s running smooth as silk.

Just a heads up: Your 2023 Crosstrek Sport DOES NOT have a TR690. You have a TR580. It calls for CVTF III. Quart bottle Subaru part # SOA427V2610.
Having replaced many Subaru CVT transmissions between 2011 - 2019 after someone put aftermarket fluid in a Subaru CVT I do not recommend using anything but OEM fluid.
Any good quality 75w90 GL-5 gear oil is fine for the front and rear differentials.

Check out a different dealer. I bought quarts for our family member's MY18(traded). I never got to the CVT(parts still under desk). I did the front and rear diff with the factory diff oil and it was noticeably improved afterwards(smoother, less driveline noise, etc).
