I ordered my base manual on April 29, I called SOA today, they don't know where my car is, or when it will be delivered. I'm having doubts I'll ever see the car but have not given up hope. I hope I can get my 1k deposit back it the car doesn't show up. I hope the country hasn't collapsed and we are at the beginning of chaos.
Those of us that got VINs fast were because the dealer or Subaru already had the specific car in the pipeline so it was basically assigned to us. Being you ordered a manual, it will most likely need to be built as the dealer probably had not ordered any like that for stock. In that case, the dealer should have at least given you a VON. The plant had a shutdown in May and now again starting July 16th so if it is not built by now, there will be another delay. I'd definitely call the dealer and see what's going on. You should be given at the minimum a VON if they actually placed the order. Would think the switchover to MY '22 should be happening real soon.

I am actually curious as to when mine will be built. Ordered June 21st. One would think they'd be switching over to MY '22 soon after coming back from shutdown.....whenever that will be.

Looks like it will be shut down for only one day, July 16th.

I just got my VIN today. Subaru specialist says it's almost ready to ship across the Pacific. So, at what point do they assign a VIN? At the beginning or end of the build process?

That's not that bad, about 3 months + for a special build.
I hope mine is half of that! I did a special order on June 21st. I just got my VIN this past Friday (July 9th). Subaru "specialist" said it's almost ready to make it's trek across the Pacific.

It may of already been in the pipeline. Just was assigned to you unlike a Manual which is less likely to of been set to be built.

could be. I kind of picked and choosed options though. Definitely not like a manual. Although I would prefer a manual (I currently have three manuals), but I did not like the dramatic reduction in MPG compared to the CVT.

Most options are port installed other than the model, trans, sunroof, and color so they can be changed fairly easily.

I think the only option I got which is different than a lot of what I saw was the color interior. I got the magnetite gray exterior with the gray/black interior.

Is anything on the list below not installed at the port? I thought maybe the two marked in red would be factory installed, but those may be port installed as well.

Hoping the hitch is port installed and not dealer installed.

Red is from the factory. I'd say all the accessories on your list will be port installed including the hitch.

so SOA is saying you are SOL and they won't let you opt out even tho they are stringing you along?

I just ordered a Crosstrek Premium in Pure Red from Matt Slap Subaru in Newark, DE. The vehicle was already posted on the website as in transit. I put the deposit down yesterday and was given the VON this morning via email with an expected delivery in late July. The person I spoke with said to expect the car in early August since it usually takes another week or two to get to the dealer. All things considered with the pandemic and chip shortage, I want to say I did very well on the price.

I am not new to Subarus and have had several over the years and we most recently purchased a '21 Outback Premium in April from another dealer and got an excellent deal at the time.

So I'm not new to Crosstreks by any means, currently have a 2016 Limited that is going to my wife for a commuter car and I'm getting a 2021 Sport in Magnetite Gray with the Moonroof and popular package 3 packages. No stranger to other subarus either, still have an 03 WRX as well and owned a Legacy in the past.

After sitting here and figuring that I really didn't need what the Limited has since my current 2016 Limited didn't have any of the new things the 2021's have I went for the Sport.

I ordered it thru A&T Subaru here in Eastern PA on June 29th. Got the order email from SOA on July 1st and a VIN # on July 2nd. Says it's due Late July. Anyone had any success figuring out what ship yours is on? I have my guesses since I know they roll into Baltimore MD but the dealer won't give me much more than late July and MySubaru says the same. Has yours been earlier than their estimates or spot on?

Apparently mine was one they dealer swapped before it even came in to a dealer so I figure it's still in transit on the ocean. They gave me a few bucks off even in the current situation so I can't really complain at all at the end of it. Looking forward to getting it!
I took a look at A&T Subaru inventory but they didn't have the color my wife wanted for the Crosstrek.

My dealer just called me today. Mine is built and on it's way to Portland, OR he said. He gave me a tentative delivery date of 8/10.

Do you guys have a website you go to to track your vehicle's progress?

Mysubaru.com is the only thing that has a ETA of sorts for you on that site. Just gotta put in the new cars VIN and it should give you something but its not much, just a basic " your cars ETA is Late July".

My dealer emailed me today, mines got a 8/2 ETA now, originally was 7/22. I've got it narrowed down to two vessels myself that hit Baltimore MD, but I could be wrong too! It's either at port since 5 days ago or it docks there 7/25. Or I've got the completely wrong boat....

I did that, but I don't see anything about a timeframe.
