Hi everyone,

I have a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Touring (U.S. model). Yesterday, when I stopped my car at a traffic light, it suddenly wouldn’t start again. When I press the push start switch, the ignition turns on (dashboard lights come up), but the car itself doesn’t start or move.

I’ve checked all the fuses and also tried jump-starting it from the 12V battery, but it still won’t go to “READY.” Please note that during ignition, there is no green “READY” light showing on the dashboard.

Has anyone experienced something similar? What could be causing this, and how can I troubleshoot it further?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The starter battery is on the driver's side, auxiliary battery on passenger side. You didn't mention whether one or both batteries are original, replaced, and if replaced - how old are each one and have they lived past their warranty? What's the condition of the drive belt and alternator output? Either try recharging or battery boosting to see if the engine starts. Standby battery voltage should be around 12.5vdc, charging around 14.5vdc. If in doubt about the starter battery, take it to your favorite auto store selling car batteries and have them test it.
