  1. Control arm bushing orientation

DIY and 3rd party Maintenance, How To's & Tools
I'm replacing the rear bushings in my front control arms. They wear out fast because of the 2" lift. Does anybody know the correct orientation for installing these? These photos are of a new Moog bushing part # K201605. One side (I'll call it side A) is thicker than the other and has a large...
  2. Model Year 2012 to 2017 Transmission cooler hose pressure

DIY and 3rd party Maintenance, How To's & Tools
I plan on adding a Hayden 677 transmission cooler in front of the radiator for my CVT. Does anyone know how much pressure runs through those hoses? Reading through the service manual, I find three places where you can measure and these are the listed maximums (in all cases with WOT): Secondary...
  3. Applies to All Model Years VxDiag diagnostic tool

DIY and 3rd party Maintenance, How To's & Tools
So far, I've been disappointed with this tool. I'll start with the positive things: - Most of the individual systems work for monitoring data in real-time - I can log tons of data to a CSV for later analysis. Some day I would like to learn R statistical programming Problems: - I'm unable to...
  4. Model Year 2012 to 2017 Clicking noise from front end

DIY and 3rd party Maintenance, How To's & Tools
I've noticed a clicking noise sometimes when I brake or accelerate from a stop. It's not every time, but more than half the time. It's just one single click, not a repeated sound like a bad CV joint. It doesn't matter if the wheels are straight or turned. I noticed that if I jack the front...
  5. Applies to All Model Years What did you do to your Subaru today???

    Subaru XV General Discussion Forum
Swapped a CV axle to fix a clicking noise.
  6. Check Hybrid System Light

XV Hybrid Tech and Warranty Issues
I had the same problem but without the engine overheating light. The dealer replaced the ISG as a "one time good will" and that took care of it. Since they've already attempted to fix yours, they shouldn't charge anything else this time, but that is annoying to have to go back. After this...

I've never heard of a drop stop. Can you show photos of that?
  8. Applies to All Model Years Correct pressure for beefier tires

    Wheels and Tires
I meant what I said, my stock Geolandar tires were P225/55R17. Anyway, I've been running the Toyos at 44 psi front and 38 rear because it looks right visually and handles well on the highway.
  9. Applies to All Model Years Correct pressure for beefier tires

    Wheels and Tires
Thanks for the link, that's exactly what I was looking for! But these numbers don't make sense or I'm reading it wrong. OEM tires are P225/55R17 at 32psi in the rear, so according to this table the load rating is 1477 lbs. I look up my replacement P215/75R15 and it says 1510 lbs at 26 psi. At...
  10. Model Year 2012 to 2017 Hybrid overlanding build

    Subaru XV Member's Journal
While trying to track down a clicking noise, I removed the front sway bar completely, and I don't think I'll be putting it back. There is a slight extra roll in turns but hardly noticeable. I think the articulation is improved, and I'll be looking for a chance to measure the difference. I...

  12. Model Year 2012 to 2017 Hybrid overlanding build

    Subaru XV Member's Journal
I've already owned the car for a few months before it occurred to me to write a blog. I'll write about existing mods when I have a chance. Better late than never.
  13. Model Year 2012 to 2017 Hybrid overlanding build

    Subaru XV Member's Journal
I bought an XV hybrid for several reasons — keyless entry and ignition is big one. More HP and torque and slightly better gas mileage. Silent EV mode can be quite nice in a campground at night. Better sound insulation and some luxury features. Of course there are drawbacks compared to the...
  14. $80 Strut Bar is Great

    Suspension and Brakes
I just bought this bar and it seems to be built backwards, so it blocks the brake fluid reservoir and the air filter box. I emailed Megan Racing about this, and they said yep that's how it's supposed to be. That's weird, considering everyone else in this thread has it the other way. So I...
  15. Model Year 2012 to 2017 Replacing CV axle - drain fluid?

    Engine and Drivetrain
That's what I call donuts. It's more of a knock than a click. It's not continuous, the sound comes and goes during this test. And the rate does not change with the speed of the car. I know the CV joints are at risk especially since I lifted the car 2", but I'm not certain that's the issue.
  16. Model Year 2012 to 2017 Replacing CV axle - drain fluid?

    Engine and Drivetrain
Thanks for the help. Most of this is new to me but I have the service manual and I want to learn. Both front wheels wiggle about 1/4" when I shake them at 9 and 3. That doesn't seem right. Also, if I turn the wheel back and forth while in the air, I hear a clank. With my hand it feels like the...
  17. Model Year 2012 to 2017 Replacing CV axle - drain fluid?

    Engine and Drivetrain
You're right. I read it wrong, they are saying to drain the gear oil, not CVT fluid. Doing donuts in a parking lot, I can hear the noise only sometimes. More so if I apply some brake and gas at the same time. It seems to only happen while I'm turning and giving some gas. I've yanked on...
  18. Model Year 2012 to 2017 Replacing CV axle - drain fluid?

    Engine and Drivetrain
Thanks. I guess I could just buy 1qt to have on hand in case it leaks. But I have read warnings online where people say you have to be extremely careful not to contaminate this fluid. Anyway, I'm not 100% sure it's the CV joint, but I have a knocking noise when turning, usually just while...
  19. Mishimoto CVT Cooler

    Engine and Drivetrain
Would you mind showing the PIDs and equations you're using? The codes I posted above were converted from X-Gauge info, but none of it works with Torque.
  20. Anyone Using Whiteline Suspension Products?

    Suspension and Brakes
How did you determine that this part would fit? I'm interested in this but I emailed Whiteline and they said it will not fit the XV. I also checked a few sites like Rallitek that say it's not compatible.
