  1. Model Year 2018 and Newer CATCH CAN RESULTS!!!!

    Engine and Drivetrain
Well, not this one... My last oil change (after 10K kms) still showed full dipstick.
  2. Model Year 2018 and Newer CATCH CAN RESULTS!!!!

    Engine and Drivetrain
They are missing out on getting their valves cleaned by the new spec GDI oils...
  3. Model Year 2018 and Newer New HU Firmware? Looks like it.

    Interior, Audio, and HVAC
Nope, just the PVC and ign coil.
  4. Model Year 2018 and Newer Recall (Canada)

    Subaru XV General Discussion Forum
Yeah, but it took this long for the recalls to finally appear on the Canada database. I just mine, too, now.
  5. Applies to All Model Years How much more capable is the XV with a 1" lift?

Haha, yeah, I guess we have beaten it to death now. Hopefully the OP didn't mind the extra discussion.
  6. Model Year 2018 and Newer The 2020s Are Here

    Subaru XV General Discussion Forum
You know, when I was in Maui a couple weeks ago, we rented a start/stop SUV (Chevy Equinox). It was so smooth that for the first few miles of driving (incl stopping at red lights) didn't even notice it. Eventually, I saw on the tach, the engine would shut off when I stopped. But what I also...
  7. Applies to All Model Years How much more capable is the XV with a 1" lift?

    Subaru XV Off Road
Yes, I had X-mode on the whole time on the Mt. Cheam road, and most of it, am sure didn't need it. But sure seemed to work well in a few spots. And yes, as discussed before, biggest limitation is approach angle with front bumper. As for my cabin road, I think Subaru's permanent AWD makes a huge...

    Subaru XV Off Road
No argument about the Jeep, totally different machine. Best for extreme off-road and rock crawling, but terrible at everything else. On our cabin road, it (our friends have a Wrangler) feels like you are driving on railroad tracks, with everything rattling and bouncing over the bumps, holes and...

There is a trade-off with traction and power when using X-mode. I found that on really steep approaches when it loses traction on some loose gravel/shale it will cut power to prevent spinning. But you then can turn off TCS with the push of a button (and still keep X-mode on), and play with the...
  10. Model Year 2018 and Newer Oil dilution problem?

    Engine and Drivetrain
When I did my last oil change, I filled it to the full mark and checked the dip stick a couple times to get it exact. Then after starting the car, running it for a bit, and shutting it down, I was surprised to see it above the full mark, about 1/2 an inch. So somehow, when you first fill it, it...
  11. Model Year 2018 and Newer Oil dilution problem?

    Engine and Drivetrain
I don't think it will damage your engine, from what I have read. But might as well get it fixed if that is a problem. Don't know how you drive your car. But short trips are bad for this, as the engine runs richer initially, and thereby pumps more fuel in that could drain into your O I L. Of...
  12. Model Year 2018 and Newer Oil dilution problem?

    Engine and Drivetrain
You might want to get it checked out. Read on another Subaru forum (Ascent), where they have had a few cases of this. And the solution was to replace the high pressure injector pump which Subaru authorized the dealer to do. Problem was solved after that.

    Wheels and Tires
My son has those on his Forester. They do make some noise, though, but not near as bad as the K02s on my Crosstrek.

Thanks for the taking the time to provide such a detailed explanation. If I understand correctly, there is more even weight distribution front to back when going diagonally. I can see that. And I guess the two lower wheels front and back would always be the ones touching when one single one...

While I agreed with most of your post, I didn't quite understand what you meant by this statement. I take the washouts at an angle so that my front bumper doesn't hit the other side when I take it straight on. But if anything, I would think this is harder on the suspension, as most of the time...

    Subaru XV General Discussion Forum
Just got back from Maui a few days ago where we rented a small SUV (Equinox). It has the regular old style auto tranny. It was very jerky at low speeds, and lots of turbo lag when you stepped on it, even though no where near flooring it. Reminded me again how smooth and responsive the Crosstrek...
  17. Applies to All Model Years How much more capable is the XV with a 1" lift?

    Subaru XV Off Road
For off-road, I run the oversize (diameter) 225-65-17 K02s on mine (no rubbing) with no lift. That gives me an extra 1/2 inch clearance to 9.2". But my limiting factor for off-road has not been clearance, but approach angle with the front bumper scraping when going through wash-outs. I have to...

    Subaru XV General Discussion Forum
Yep, not many (or any) charging stations way up there. My son went up there in his Forester the previous year (late Aug) with his family. Was quite the adventure, and encountered some pretty tough weather and roads, incl snow. Ferries can be a problem, too, with high water. But they made it, and...

I think a BEV Crosstrek is more likely in the future than a turbo. Way more power and torque, and that's the way the world is going. I have a BEV Kona, and for raw power (instant high torque) from a start, it is better than most sports cars. Toyota/Subaru are supposed to come out with their...

Not trying to offend, but do you actually own a Crosstrek? Most of us here that do find the power quite adequate. I have used it off-road, and it works extremely well there, with X-mode giving extra torque to the wheels at low speed (higher engine revs). Definitely no lack of power there.
